Let's All Say "Hi!"
As we strive to transform southeast Michigan many citizens ask, “So, how can I help?” One reply might be to ask all four-million residents of Metro Detroit to play a simple part -- Let’s all just say "Hi!" to strangers. We will do this during the week of February 19, 2007.
This simple greeting – made as we go about our daily business – is especially powerful when we reach across perceived socioeconomic & racial boundaries and simply acknowledge each other. Give yourself permission to do what comes naturally and help create an atmosphere of community. We are doing this during Black History Month to give one more way for all of us to recognize our diversity. Saying “Hi” is the first step in any dialogue, hence it can foster more in-depth discussions.
