Volunteer on the Ride
Help make cycling a tradition by volunteering at these events!
- Bike Mechanic Guru (amaze your friends, and impress your neighbors with your super-human skills of fixing a troubled bike.) - If there is a flat tire, or a dislocated chain, its your time to save the day.
- Tour Guide/Sweeper Squad (a seasoned pro of the urban street scape, or a intermediate level rider with the special skill of keeping the group together, on the route, safe, following all traffic laws, and informed of interesting facts on the tour.) - requires little more than participating in the event itself, and being a good example of proper city cycling.
- Liability and Legal Waiver Sage (assist with waiver sign-in) - if you'll already arrive a few minutes early, all you have to do is get signatures on a printed liability waiver form.
If you'd like to help out with any of the activities, please send an email to detroitbikes@detroitsynergy.org, and let us know what special skill you would like to showcase the day of the tour.
Who We Are
Detroit Bikes! is a grassroots advocacy project associated with Detroit Synergy, aimed at promoting cycling within the urban city, specifically the "motor city".
Look to http://www.detroitsynergy.org/projects/detroitbikes for more folders of information about biking!
Our goal is to become a volunteer group that:
-Identifies opportunities, existing groups/businesses and special events that promote city cycling.
- Educates both young and old of the benefits of cycling as a means of transit, along with understanding proper bike safety and maintenance.
- Promotes the potential of a dynamic city of cyclists with activities to create an awareness of biking. Our groups' actions create the push for cycling infrastructure, and our events benefit those who share the goal of a diverse, and healthy city of transit, recreation and positive energy.
