Reminder for this Thursday. Everyone's welcome to attend! General meetings provide the opportunity to find out about new projects, discover an active Detroit organization, meet people with a passion for Detroit, and learn how to get involved with Detroit Synergy.
CREPES Paris has a crepe stand on about every corner. Now Detroit has one. Get a taste of Good Girls Go To Paris Crepes before its opening later this month at the cute little storefront on John R (where it intersects Woodward; behind Oslo). Made fresh at the meeting ($3) by owner and Francophile Torya Blanchard Howell, who has long dreamed of running her own crepe stand in downtown Detroit, and city dwellers rejoice, her vision becomes a reality this month.
ROOFTOP A view while we meet... join us at The Park Shelton rooftop (penthouse if inclement weather). The Park Shelton was designed in the popular Art-Deco style of the era and was originally an apartment hotel. One of the most famous guests, Diego Rivera, lived at the hotel for nearly a year while working on his murals at the Detroit Institute of Arts. His wife, Frida Kahlo, also spent time there, as did, Bob Hope and George Burns. After the meeting, if you'd like, you may take a peak at a couple condos that maintain the original historical architectural character.
